First opened in 1948, diners like these should stay around forever! Great prices, great food, great service, great decor.
Paul's is a hidden gem not to be missed. A popular place for those working in downtown Roanoke to grab a delicious lunch. We were in the area Christmas shopping and Paul's was convenient and offered an enticing menu. We visited at the height of lunch hour but were promptly greeted and offered a booth that had just been cleared and cleaned. Service was prompt and friendly and our two wraps (gyro and chicken salad), fries, and drinks were at the table in minutes. Our food choices were delicious and lunch for two cost $22. We certainly will return when in the area and try another delicious option on their menu!
Absolutely amazing. Will be returning soon!
What do you need to know before you eat here is that they only except cash. But their food and service is phenomenal and for a great price. Their baklava is unmatched. 10/10 recommend
Family owned and operated, this is a classic local diner from Roanoke’s post-war period, except it not only serves American breakfast and lunch, but also Greek fare. The stars I provide are for the overall authentic experience, the survival of the place, and the fact that I showed up a little before closing and they took care of me like family. I will be back to try the Greek dishes.
What a gem! I'm not sure I've ever experienced a friendlier welcome and lovelier customer service. The egg and home fries plate was fantastic and when I saw someone's lunch come out I wanted to return immediately.
They are genuinely some of the kindest people you will ever have the pleasure of meeting. Their warmth and generosity shine through in every interaction, creating an atmosphere that feels more like being welcomed into a cherished friend’s home than simply dining out. This heartfelt hospitality is beautifully reflected in the food itself, each dish prepared with love and care that elevates every bite. This experience has truly been one of the most delightful and memorable I’ve had since moving to the area. The quality of the food is beyond compare, a testament to the passion and dedication of the cook.
I have now been here twice and each time the Greek food has been great!! This place is cash only but they do have an ATM on site. I wish somewhere on Google it stated cash only. I have had a Gyro dinner and Souvlaki Chicken Dinner. Both are great! Served hot with salad and fries. Both of my meals were to go. The baklava is probably the best I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot. It’s amazing!! The woman who I guess is the owner is very sweet and welcoming. I will add this place into my rotation. As for atmosphere, it gives mom and pop old school diner vibes.
